You will have to do a bit of studying to learn website design and creation, but it will be well worth it if you are interested in taking things a step further. You might also consider taking some classes in html, or hiring a private tutor (someone who has a portfolio to prove they are worthy), depending on how far you want to take your webmastery.
Its great to be in control of your own website instead of depending on someone else for every little change or update. If you want to learn to build your own website using a program, or want to start designing websites for others, I recommend Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. Its powerful, and will make your website creation a breeze. It is worth the time to learn if you are serious about building your website professionally. Check Ebay for good prices on Dreamweaver MX. The Latest version is 8.0, but the 4.0 version is very good and preferred by some. FrontPage is also very good, and easier to use, though not as powerful as Dreamweaver.
